Story
My obsession with “trucks” as a boy turned into a love of Rovers in my teenage years. Range Rover Classics, Defenders, Discoveries - I wanted all of them. Many years later, I set out to obtain one for myself.
Over the years, one turned into several and I ended up owning a 1991 RRC SWB, a 1993 RRC LWB, a 1982 Santana 109, a 1999 D1, and a 2005 LR3 at various points in time. These all ended up being “learning opportunities” on blown head gaskets, leaky sunroofs, death wobble, electrical gremlins, rusted rear crossmembers, rusted foot wells, rusted rear cargo floors, rusted frames…I think you get the point!
After recovering from my Range Rover disorder for a few years, I decided to get back in the saddle and embark on a quest to find a clean Range Rover Classic as my daily driver. I was as surprised as anyone when I was led to the arid climate of southern Spain. What I found was the land of vehicles without sunroofs, 5-speed manual transmissions, and TDI engines. After a year or so I built strong relationships with knowledgeable mechanics in Spain who could refurbish anything mechanically defective, paint, upholster, and customize my long sought-after dream Range Rover Classic.
I figured out how to get it legally imported to the United States and shipped to my home in Ohio. I immediately started to get inquiries on if I could source other similar Range Rover Classics from similarly disordered Rover lovers.
That’s how Classic Rovers started and continues to operate. We help people find great Range/Land Rovers customized to their liking to be used as a nostalgic daily driver, weekend toy, or on vacation at a second home.
